Associate Professor Andrew completed his BMedScience degree in Microbiology/Virology prior to graduating in Medicine from Otago University. With postgraduate training in general and anatomical pathology at Dunedin and the Royal Brisbane Hospital, he progressed to Specialist training in Microbiology as an Assistant Microbiologist with the British Public Health Laboratory Service, London and Queen’s Medical Centre Nottingham. This culminating in Fellowships from both the Royal College of Pathologists of London and Australasia.
After working as a Senior Lecturer at Monash University in 1978, he was appointed Director of Microbiology at St Vincents Hospital Melbourne and a Senior Associate of Melbourne University. He joined Gribbles as Medical Microbiologist in 1991 as a consultant, then from mid 1994 became Medical Director and from July 1998 Director of Microbiology. Assoc. Prof. Andrew is a NATA assessor of long standing, a member of the National Pathology Accreditation Advisory Council, the Australasian Society for Infectious Diseases and a Fellow of the Australian
Society for Microbiology.
He has actively participated in education and advisory groups including the "Antibiotic Guidelines"
writing group, and in teaching medical microbiology/infectious diseases - and is a Clinical
Associate Professor, Dept. of Pathology and Immunology, Monash University.
