Dr Craig Marshall – Chief Executive Officer

As CEO of Labtests, Dr Craig Marshall’s key role is to engage with practitioners across the Auckland region to ensure excellent working relationships. He is also responsible for the ongoing operations of Labtests service and ensuring the effective, accountable servicing of the DHB contract.

Dr Marshall is a graduate of Otago University Medical School and has been involved in the health sector in New Zealand for over 20 years. He was Director of White Cross Group Limited for ten years and Chief Executive Officer for five of those years. Dr Marshall was also General Manager – Auckland and Northland for Southern Community Laboratories (SCL) from 2001 to 2005. Prior to joining Labtests Dr Marshall was Chief Executive Officer of New Zealand’s largest privately owned taxi company, Corporate Cabs.

Dr Michael Coglin - Chief Medical Officer – Healthscope Australia

Dr Michael Coglin completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at Monash University in 1976 and went on to complete an MBA from Monash in 1996. Dr Coglin completed his training at Prince Henry’s Hospital in Melbourne and Royal Darwin Hospital before being appointed Director of Medical Services at Central Gippsland Hospital in Victoria, where he was based for nine years. He then went on to be Director of Medical Services for Latrobe Regional Hospital and Director of Clinical Services at Central Wellington Health Service in Victoria, Australia before joining Healthscope in 1999.

Dr Coglin has held a variety of roles at Healthscope including responsibility for business development, sales and marketing, large-scale contract negotiation with health insurance funds, information technology and line management of hospital operations. In his current role as Chief Medical Officer he has responsibility for clinical safety, quality and risk management across Healthscope hospital, pathology and medical clinic operations across Australia. He also oversees medical affairs and manages relationships between Healthscope and its 7,200
accredited medical practitioners.

Dr Coglin is a member of the Private Hospital Sector Committee of the Australian Commission
on safety and quality in healthcare, Australia’s peak national patient safety authority.

Assoc Prof. John H Andrew - Director of Microbiology / Medical Director, Victoria

Associate Professor Andrew completed his BMedScience degree in Microbiology/Virology prior to graduating in Medicine from Otago University. With postgraduate training in general and anatomical pathology at Dunedin and the Royal Brisbane Hospital, he progressed to Specialist training in Microbiology as an Assistant Microbiologist with the British Public Health Laboratory Service, London and Queen’s Medical Centre Nottingham. This culminating in Fellowships from both the Royal College of Pathologists of London and Australasia.

After working as a Senior Lecturer at Monash University in 1978, he was appointed Director of Microbiology at St Vincents Hospital Melbourne and a Senior Associate of Melbourne University. He joined Gribbles as Medical Microbiologist in 1991 as a consultant, then from mid 1994 became Medical Director and from July 1998 Director of Microbiology. Assoc. Prof. Andrew is a NATA assessor of long standing, a member of the National Pathology Accreditation Advisory Council, the Australasian Society for Infectious Diseases and a Fellow of the Australian
Society for Microbiology.

He has actively participated in education and advisory groups including the "Antibiotic Guidelines"
writing group, and in teaching medical microbiology/infectious diseases - and is a Clinical
Associate Professor, Dept. of Pathology and Immunology, Monash University.

Dr Richard Lloydd - Medical Director

Photo of Richard LloyddAs Medical Director for Labtests, Dr Richard Lloydd leads Labtests pathologists and has a vital role working with Auckland GPs, specialists, PHOs and DHBs. Dr Lloydd also works with the senior clinical team across Healthscope’s nation-wide pathology network.

Dr Lloydd was an Anatomical Pathologist at Diagnostic Medlab (DML) for over eight years. Prior to taking up his role at DML, Dr Lloydd was a registrar and pathologist at Canterbury Health Laboratories.  His specialty training was completed at Dunedin and Christchurch Hospitals.  Prior to entering pathology he spent three years working as a General Practitioner.  He is a graduate of Otago Medical School.

Steven Martin – Chief Operations Officer

Steven is responsible for the day to day operations from collection, transport, testing and reporting of patient tests.  He is also responsible for the ongoing improvement of the service and systems for the patients and doctors of the Auckland community.

A registered Medical Laboratory Scientist, Steven has over 20 years experience in diagnostic pathology and was Service Delivery Manager at DML for 9 years.  Steven has a Bachelor of Business in Management and is passionate about efficient and effective delivery of quality diagnostic services for all stakeholders.
