Fasting Blood Tests

The following instructions are for patients attending a Fasting Blood Test.

• Your doctor has requested a fasting blood test be performed.
• For accurate results you are asked not to smoke, eat or drink for 10 hours prior to your blood test.
• Should you be thirsty, you may drink plain water only.  (Not coffee, tea, milk, fruit juice, lemonade, alcohol).
