Fertility and Post Vasectomy Tests

The following instructions are for patients attending a Fertility or Post Vasectomy test.

Fertility Test Instructions

Abstain from sexual intercourse for at least 2 days and not longer than 7 days prior to test.
DO NOT use a condom or any form of lubricant.
Obtain specimen by masturbation or withdrawal method.
Collect the entire specimen into the container provided.
Keep specimen at body temperature (approximately 37 degrees Celsius), by wrapping in a bag, and holding under armpit.
Ensure your name and date of birth are clearly written on the container.
Ensure the date and time of collection are written on the form.
Return the specimen and request form directly to the main Labtests Laboratory in Carbine Road, Mt Wellington, between the hours of 7am and 5pm, Mon – Fri, or 8am-12noon Sat.
Please Note: We are unable to accept specimens on Sunday.
Speciments MUST be delivered within 1 hour of collection.

Collect as above but specimen can be returned to a Collection Centre for transport to the main laboratory on the day of collection.
